  ENGINEER – R&D,

The Lead Engineer will be working in the Research and Development department. The role entails working with multi-disciplinary contributors spanning the engineering, commercial, sales and operations functions to develop new products to the point of manufacture. Controlling the project schedule, ensuring stage-gate deliverables are met in a timely manner and communicating project status to senior management will be key requirements. The ability to build relationships with key stakeholders whilst challenging existing assumptions and ways of working will be key skills in delivering this role.

  LEAD ENGINEER – R&D,

• Coordinate and communicate project status between teams to ensure efficiency; resolve conflicts and lead solutions. • Take an active, hands-on role to support the identification and resolution of engineering problems. • Identify interdependencies between functions and facilitate cooperative working. • Develop and control the project schedule within Microsoft Project. • Challenge concepts in order to achieve the optimum design within the boundaries of time, specification and cost. • Ensure the team use established development processes, good engineering practice and discipline to deliver a fully resolved solution to the correct standards. • Support resource allocation activities against current time plans. • Ability to use your project management skills in innovative ways and be flexible as this role develops in R&D.

Desired skills  Prior experience in LED driver design/Electronic Ballast/EHID ballast/Induction lamp generator.  Knowledge of various relevant standards.  Circuit simulation techniques.  PCB Layout  Ability to multitask.  Working knowledge of various Light sources and associated control schemes.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: (List key areas of responsibility or duties) Example: • coordinates meetings • arranges travel • prepares correspondence • maintains filing system • Develop products / platforms / technologies per the defined roadmap for product development as desired by Product Management • Hire, retain and train engineers to develop new products, platforms and incorporate latest technologies in SSL • Value engineering of existing products • Fast track development as per market requirement by optimum use of available resources • Provide technical support to customers for understanding their requirements to develop futuristic products • Ensure a common component library between the different R&D centres as far as practicable • Drive advanced “research” in convertor platforms, connected lighting and innovative potentially disruptive products.
